Noted and illustrated in Søren Kaspersen's Jyske fonte med modstillede løver.[1] Et præliminært studie, 17.8.2016 klo 23.15 | Tieteelliset artikkelit | TAHITI 04/2016 [https://tahiti.journal.fi/article/view/85640/44590] [accessed 16 November 2023]; in his description of this font Kaspersen (ibid.) raises an interesting question on the possible symbolism of the pairs of lions as they might relate to the Christ and the Trinity ["Mere problematisk synes det at være at skulle forestille sig Kristus som hætteklædt. The Sall Sogn page [http://www.sallkirke.dk/?s=16] [accessed 16 November 2023] informs that the Romanesque font carved with male heads, lions and crucifixes came from Søbygård to Sall in 1904 ["Den romanske døbefont har udhuggede mandshoveder, løver og korslam. Fonten kom fra Søbygård til Sall i 1904"]. The roughly hemispherical basin has pairs of animals on the sides of two human heads at opposite sides of the basin; one of the pairs is formed by a lion on the left of the head and an Agnus Dei, haloed and carrying a fancy cross on its rump, on the right [cf. ImagesArea]; the base, made of a different materil may be a later replacement. [NB: although claimed to have been brought here originally from Søbygård [cf.supra] we have been not been able to corroborate the claim].
