Font Notes:
The baptismal font here is noted in De kerken van Wulveringem en Vinkem, Luc Devliegher, Biekorf, year 60 (1959), which provides the text of the inscription on it [cf. Inscription field]. The entry for this church in the Onroerenderfgoed.be [https://inventaris.onroerenderfgoed.be/erfgoedobjecten/16895] [accessed 13 November 2023] reports a bluestone baptismal font with a copper lid, gift from Pieter Meeze van Hondschote and his wife, from 1618 according to inscription; from the former church of 's Heer Willemskapelle ["Arduinen doopvont met koperen deksel, gift van Pieter Meeze van Hondschote en zijn echtgenote, van 1618 volgens opschrift; afkomstig uit de voormalige kerk van 's Heer Willemskapelle". The entry for the Sint-Audomaruskerk at Vinkem in the Belgian Wikipedia [https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sint-Audomaruskerk_(Vinkem)] [accessed 13 November 2023] states that the baptismal font dates from 1618 and comes from the church of 's Heerwillemskapelle ["Het doopvont is van 1618 en afkomstig uit de kerk van 's Heerwillemskapelle"]. The font was moved to Vinken in 1825, when the Heerwillemskapelle became disused. A communication to BSI from Pol Herman (e-mail of 18 December 2022) refers to a text in Oude doopvont van Vinkem ? A.B.Stavele, Biekorf, year 65 (1964). in which the author writes: "Recently, during one of my wanderings in the Veurnse Houtland (Leisele), my attention was drawn to a kind of 'drinking trough' for the cattle in the corner of a meadow. Upon closer inspection, I established that this is an octagonal hard stone tub of a former baptismal font. According to people from the area, it is 'the old baptismal font of the old church of Vinkem'. Does anyone know anything more about that?" [NB: we have been unable to locate any up-to-date information on the font].
