Church Notes: there may have been a church here ca. 800; church built 1166; damaged by earthquake 1667; re-built thereafter; damaged by another earthquake in 1979; restored
Monolithic baptismal font of stone, rectagular inside and out; sides decorated with a fron panel in which two peacocks drink from a chalice or font; two large floral motifs in the upper corners; the right side of the font is dedcorated with a rampant lion (left) and an eagle (right) at a tree [Tree of Life?] [NB: we have no access or information to the other two sides of the font]. There is a modern wooden cover on the font; the font is located in the cathedral museum].
