There are two baptismal font in this church; one a Romanesque font originally from Friesdorf (Bonn), the church of which was destroyed in 1844; its font was moved to Oberpleis parish church and installed in the tower space [cf. infra]. The other font, dated 1702 by an inscripton [and therefore outside the scope of BSI] is kept in the crypt [cf. ImagesArea]. Both fonts are noted and illustrated in Das virtuelle Heimatmuseum Oberpleis [https://www.virtuelles-heimatmuseum.de/oberpleis/historie/abfrage_sql.php?rolle=ja&schublade=Taufbecken] [accessed 31 October 2023]. The medieval Friesdorf basin was brought over to Oberpleis in the 1950s, and placed on a platform outside the church; in 1974 the medieval font was restored to its former design, with six outer colonnettes and and hexafoiled lower base, and installed inside the church, in the tower room, while the 1702 font was brought down to the crypt where it now stands ["Taufstein in der Pfarrkirche St. Pankratius Oberpleis . Diesen Taufstein holte Pastor Hans Wichert in den1950er Jahren aus Bonn-Friesdorf nach Oberpleis. Er stand viele Jahre im Quadrum. Nach Ergänzung von Fußplatte und Säulen wurde der Taufstein 1978 in der Pfarrkirche St. Pankratius aufgestellt. Der Taufstein von 1702, der bis 1974 unter dem Turm stand, wurde 1978 in der Krypta aufgestellt." Drake (2002) lists a Romanesque "suspended font" in Friesdorf. The German Wikipedia entry for this church [https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/St._Pankratius_(Oberpleis)] reports a Romanesque baptismal font originally from Friesdorf (Bonn) now in the tower space at Oberpleis parish church ["Im Untergeschoss des Turmes steht heute ein romanischer Taufstein, der aus Bonn-Friesdorf stammt."] A communication from Pol Herman (e-mail of 28 November 2022) informs: "Drake and Zimmermann mention a Romanesque baptismal font at Friesdorf. The Sankt Servatius church at Friesdorf was destroyed in 1944. In the 1950’s, the basin was moved to Oberpleis, where it stood outside of the church. In 1978, it was moved into the church.
