The entry for the Kloster Paulizella in the Thüringer Landesmuseum Heidecksburg [https://www.museum-paulinzella.de/klosterensemble/moenchsbrunnen/] [accessed 30 October 2023] reports that the monks used a stone trough to collect water from the well beacuse of its good taste, and that the trough was also used as baptismal font ["Die Mönche des Klosters sollen das Wasser des Mönchsbrunnens, das nach kurzem Lauf dessen steinernen Trog füllte, seines guten Geschmacks wegen bevorzugt haben. Ebenso wurde der Trog als Taufbecken genutzt."] [NB: the present well is modern]. An old and battered-looking basin or trough located near the south tower of the monastery church is displayed in Alamy [https://c8.alamy.com/comp/RP012A/paulinzella-thringen-klosterruine-73145-rest-eines-taufbeckens-oder-weihwassergefes-abgelegt-neben-dem-sdturm-RP012A.jpg and RP0123] [accessed 30 October 2023] but we have no information on what it is or where it originated nor what is function was. [NB: we have no information on the font from the 12th-century monastery church here]
