A baptismal font of the 16th century originally from nearby Gardais, is listed in Palissy [ref.: PM28001418]: "Fonts baptismaux provenant de l'église de Gardais. [...] Pierre : taillé, peint [...] 16e siècle". The baptismal font in the former abbey church consists of a roughly hemispherical basin decorated with ribbed pattern around the underbowl, raised on a round pedestal base with roll mouldings at each end, and raised on a short square plinth. No cover present. An earlier (24 June 2012) article by Michel Détail in L'Echo Républicain [https://www.lechorepublicain.fr/thiron-gardais-28480/loisirs/les-fonts-baptismaux-ont-quitte-leglise_1203368/] [accessed 4 October 2023] under the title 'Les fonts baptismaux ont quitté l’église' informed that the font in the abbey church had been removed to her workshop in Marçon (Sarthe) by "Édith Leroy, restauratrice spécialiste de la sculpture" to restore it ["Une mission qui prendra probablement plusieurs mois avant de pouvoir ramener les fonts baptismaux à leur place. [NB: we have no further information about the restoration process or results, but the font [a font?] is in its place in the church in July 2020, as can be ascertained by photographs taken on tha date [cf.
