The entry for this church in the Katholische Pfarreiengemeinschaft Obergrafschaft [https://www.pg-og.de/pfarreiengemeinschaft/kirchen/st-johannes-d-t/] [accessed 4 October 2023] mentions an early-Baroque baptismal font now in this church; it had been located in the castle until 1679 ["Der frühbarocke Taufstein befand sich bis 1679 in der Burg.] The font is made of stone and consists of a roughly hemispherical basin bearing a Latin inscription below the upper rim moulding, raised on a square pedestal base of the baluster type, decorated with foliage and bearing on one side the crossed IHS emblem. The wooden cover consists of a round platform with four vertical scroll ribs supporting a Holy Ghost dove finial; painted and gilded. [NB: some source images show the font in varoed places within the nave; we assume therefore that the font is easily moved as needed].
