Church Notes: the originally medieval church of All Saints Church in Albrechtice / Albrechticích was demolished in the 1970s
Font Notes:
Baptismal font of stone consisting of a roughly hemispherical basin raised on a round pedestal stem and a circular lower base, originally from the parish church of All Saints Church in Albrechtice / Albrechticích that was demolished in the 1970s. both the basin and the lower base are damaged; the lower base appears to have some geometric motifs on it but the rest of the font appears plain. No cover present. The font is now [2012] displayed outside the Most City Hall [cf. ImagesArea] A communication to BSI from Pol Herman (e-mail of 4 November 2022) informs: "A large sandstone baptismal font - probably of Gothic origin - stood next to the church in the demolished Albrechtice. It is one of the few surviving similar artefacts of this age in the region [...] the baptismal font stood next to the All Saints Church in Albrechtice (Albrechticích) (MO); said to be from the original Albrechtian church, which was to be replaced by a new one in the 16th century; before the liquidation of the village, the baptismal font was moved to Most as part of coal mining and subsequently located in the atrium of the building of the former Mostek national committees (now the seat of the municipality); it only became a cultural monument at this new location [...] The massive, wide baptismal font has a wider, high plinth, on which stands a low, narrower leg. The round, wide bowl is provided with two semicircular depressions on the outer side of the upper edge. Material: coarse-grained sandstone, dimensions: total height 120 cm, top width 100 cm, bottom width 80 cm, neck - throat 25 cm high, bottom 30 cm high, chalice opening - width 60 cm, chalice depth 45 cm [...] the baptismal font - apparently of medieval origin - has significant historical value; on a more general level, as one of the few preserved similar objects of such age in the region, and then specifically as material proof of the former existence of the village of Albrechtice, from which it originates and which was liquidated as part of mining" [source of PH's information unknown/NA]
