Noted and illustrated in the entry for this church in Open Churches [https://openchurches.eu/en/churches/saint-remy-jodoigne] [accessed 19 September 2023]: "Baptismal fonts commissioned by the priest Jean Delwaide in 1687. Unfortunately, the latter died the same year and it was his successor ,Charles Léonard, who christened the newborn of the parish. The sculptor retained the original pedestal but we are unable to date it." The entry for this church in Wikipedia [https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Église_Saint-Remy_de_Saint-Remy-Geest] [accessed 19 September 2023] notes the location of the font at the end of the nave, vives the date as engraved on the rim of the basin, and describes the stone as "pierre bleu" ["Au fond de l'église se trouve une petite niche qui abrite les fonts baptismaux commandés en 1687 par le curé Jean Delwaide6. Ces fonts sont réalisés en pierre bleue (petit granit) et le bord de la cuve baptismale porte le millésime de 1687"].
A communication to BSI from Pol Herman (e-mail of 1 November 2022) notes: "Mosan font not mentioned in KIK-IRPA database. Composite font: In 1687, the parish priest Jean Delwaide ordered a new baptismal font. However, he died before it was delivered [cf. suptra]. This could be a reason why the font is composite : a non-datable base, a gothic octagonal Mosan column and the basin dated 1687 (inscription). All elements are made of Mosan limestone."
