Noted and illustrated in the Wikipedia entry for this church [https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kirche_Fördergersdorf ] [accessed 26 July 2023] as a goblet-shaped baptismal font made of sandstone and dated 1583 ["Des Weiteren blieb noch der kelchförmige Taufstein aus Sandstein mit Inschriften aus dem Jahre 1583 erhalten."] The font consists of a cylindrical basin bearing a number of inscriptions all around it; around the top, just below the upper rim, is the well-known phrase to let the children come to Jesus (Mt. 19:14 / Mk. 10:13); on one side is the date 1584, etc.; the underbowl is carved with a ball-in-arch pattern; the pedestal base, which appears to be a later replacement, is round with parallel mouldings. The modern font cover is made of transparent glass and has a wooden ball handle/finial.
