The Wikipedia entry for this church [https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alte_Kirche_(Watzenborn-Steinberg)] [accessed 24 July 2023] with reference to its source in Damasky's Die „Alte Kirche“ in Watzenborn-Steinberg (2002: 50f, 171) reports a Gothic baptismal font of stone that was removed from the church in the 17th century and relegated to the Steinbach courtyard where it sat for centuries; moved to a front garden ca. 1980, it eventually found its return and restoration to the outside of the church in 2006 ["Vor der Nordseite ist ein gotisches Taufbecken mit Spitzbogenfries aufgestellt. Es hat einen Durchmesser von 1,21 Meter und eine Höhe von 0,76 Meter. Im 17. Jahrhundert wurde es aus der Kirche entfernt und durch eine Taufschale aus Zinn ersetzt, da der Brauch, die Kinder ganz unterzutauchen, durch ein Besprengen oder Begießen abgelöst wurde. Es gelangte in den Besitz des Schultheißen des Gerichts Steinbach. Jahrhunderte stand es in dessen Freihof, wurde um 1980 in einen Vorgarten umgesetzt und im Jahr 2006 wieder an die Alte Kirche zurückgebracht.] The tub-shaped basin is still located outside the church in 2013 [cf.
