Font Notes:
Described and illustrated in the Ludwig-Münstermann-Gesellschaft e.V. [https://www.ludwig-muenstermann.de/werke/kirchen/blexen] [accessed 21 July 2023] as a baptismal font made of sandstone by Onno Dierksen in 1642, as stated in the inscription [cf. Inscriptions field]; this source also identifies the supporting figure of the base as St. Willehad [cf. infra]. The entry for this church in the Kirchengemeinde Blexen [https://www.kirche-blexen.de/kirchen.html] [accessed 21 July 2023] notes that the baptismal font of 1642 was made by Onno Dierksen, a disciple/student of Ludwig Münstermann ["Der Taufstein von 1642 zeigt den hl. Willehad getragen."]. The font consists of a roughly hemispherical basin, almost cylindrical, decorated with an assortment of motifs and symbols on the sides, including inscriptions; the base is an enthroned figure with an episcopal staff in his left hand, identified in one of the sources [cf. supra] as St. Willehad [aka Willihad, Willehadus, Willihadus], 8th-century Northumbrian missionary who became bishop of Bremen]. No cover present but there is a metal anchoring for a former font still visible in the upper rim side.
