The entry for this church in the Evangelische Kirchengemeinde Niederwetz/Reiskirchen [https://www.kirchengemeinde-nwrk.de/über-uns/gebäude/kirche-reiskirchen/] [accessed 19 July 2023] notes an ancient baptismal font that had been relegated to old vicarage where it served as a duck pond, and later as a planter outside the church until 1979, when it was restored to its function inside the church ["Das alte Taufbecken erfüllt seit 1979 wieder seinen ursprünglichen Zweck, nachdem es zeitweise als Blumenkübel vor der Kirche und davor sogar als Ententeich neben dem alten Pfarrhaus genutzt wurde. Der Aufsatz aus Metall zum Abstellen des Taufkruges wurde ebenfalls in diesem Jahr gefertigt. Auch die alten Abendmahl- und Taufgeräte, die lange Zeit im Pfarrhaus aufbewahrt wurden, stehen heute wieder in der Kirche."] The story of the recovery of this font is narrated and illustrated by Michael Breuer in the Hüttenberg Journal, No. 78, 2024 [Huttenberg78-low.pdf] [accessed 1 May 2024] with early illustrations from the time when it was used as a duck pond. The tub-shaped basin shows drilled holes at the upper rim, evidence of anchorings for a cover, but none is present now; the sides show a scotia below the upper rim, and a pattern of shallow horseshoe arches that have supports on every other arch-head all around; it rests directly on the ground. A communication to BSI from Pol Herman (e-mail of 6 March 2024) includes the PDF copy of the Hüttenberg Journal [cf. supra] and notes: "This font is almost identical to the font at Vollnkirchen. Both villages are part of the bigger municipality of Hüttenberg."
