There is a multiple place entry for [Bishop] Burton, Beverley and Skidby in the Domesday survey [https://opendomesday.org/place/SE9939/bishop-burton/] [accessed 26 April 2023] but no mention of a priest or church in them. The entry for this church in Historic England [Listing NGR: SE9905039731] notes: "Church. Early C13 west tower, early C13 nave and C14 aisles rebuilt c1821 [...] 1865 [...] C18 font: a small moulded basin on a polygonal baluster. Fragments of 2 earlier font basins, one octagonal, lie close by." One of the fragments is the upper section of a stone basin originally octagonal on the outside with a cylindrical inner well; there is a moulding around the upper rim, otherwise plain. No cover present.
