Bever / Bievene / Bièvène

Listed and illustrated in BALaT KIK-IRPA [http://balat.kikirpa.be/object/1345] [accessed 17 April 2023] as a baptismal font of stone made in the 17th century bearing a coat or arms, "met wapenschild van de Renesse-Warfusée[?]". The font is of a common design in the area, a roughly hemispherical basin with a band of geometric motif beneath the upper rim, a gadrooned underbowl, on a baluster-type pedestal base fluted on the upper half, foliated on the lower, on a tiny lower base or plinth. The metal cover is a medium-height dome with gadroons and a large ball finial with a cross atop; it is worked with a wall-mounted crane. A communication to BSI from Pol Herman (e-mail of 20 September 2022) notes: "broadly dated 17th century, with coat of arms Renesse-Warfusée [...] Maybe we can estimate the date by the following : René II de Renesse, né vers 1580 et tué à Liège le 16 avril 1637, est comte de Warfusée, …. et sire de …, Bièvre,… He acquired Bièvre from his mother Anne de Rubempré, dame de Bièvre, who died in 1608."
