Described in Otto Böcher's DIE ENTWICKLUNG DES LÖWENTAUFSTEINS IN DER HESSISCHEN UND RHEINFRÄNKISCHEN GOTIK (1961-1962) [https://www.worms.de/neu-de-wAssets/docs/bildung-bieten/Stadtarchiv/Wormsgau/Der-Wormsgau-5-1961-1962/Nr.3_bd.5WG_-5.-Band.pdf] [accessed 10 April 2023] as Katalog entry Nr. 64, stating that the original base had been lost and that the surving basin was located since 1930 in the Bad Dürkheim, Heimatmuseum. Böcher' (ibid.) regrets the damage and alterations to the coats of arms on the basin sides, and gives his own description of them: "1: Unter (rotem) dreilätzigem Turnierkragen (in Blau) drei (rotbewehrte silberne) rechtsgewendete Adler (2:1) zwischen acht (2:4:2) (goldenen?) Baptismal font of reddish sandstone date by an inscription to 1537; octagonal basin with panels on the sides, each containing a shield; one shield contains the 1537 date; another the arms of the city, Bad Dürkheim; another appears to be charged with the coat of arms of the Leiningen Family; the shields are painted; the underbowl is decorated with floral and foliage motifs; the modern replacement base is round-to-octagonal and has constructional columns to match the corners of the octagonal moulded lower base. There is no cover present; a metal frame is used atop the font to hold the baptismal dish in use.
