Vrzdenec / Schönbrunn

Baptismal font made of dark greyish marble in the 17th century, originally from the Ljubljana cathedral; it consists of a round, roughly hemispherical basin with a protruding flat moulding at the upper rim, a convex ribbed pattern around the basis sides and underbowl; ribbed baluster type pedestal base on a square moulded lower base. Low-dome metal (brass) cover; modern.

A communication to BSI from Pol Herman (e-mail of 15 September 2023) notes: "The parish was founded in Vrzdenec on April 26, 1733. This year extensive restoration work took place on the church of St. Kanciana. In June, the dilapidated brick roof was replaced, the electrical installation was completed, painting work was also carried out on the church and partly on the bell tower, the nave, choir and sacristy were whitewashed and all the windows were repainted. The baptismal stone from the 17th century (the original baptismal font from the Ljubljana Cathedral, which was brought to Vrzdenec in 1733) was restored. It received a new brass lid. All restoration work was carried out according to the instructions of the Institute for Monument Protection from Ljubljana."
