The entry for this church in the EKM (Evangelische Kirche in Mitteldeutschland) [https://www.ekmd.de/kirche/kirchenkreise/egeln/ummendorf-eilsleben/eilsleben-ovelguenne/st-lorenz-eilsleben/] [accessed 26 March 2023] reports a fragment of the font from the disappeared St. Georgs-Kapelle, now built into a wall of the tower at St.-Lorenz: "1147 wird eine Eilsleber Kirche erstmals erwähnt. An article by Hartmut Beyer, Alter Taufstein in Eilsleben kam vom Sportplatz in die Kirche, in the 25 June 2021 edition of Volksstimme [https://www.volksstimme.de/lokal/oschersleben/alter-taufstein-in-eilsleben-kam-vom-sportplatz-in-die-kirche-3194044] [accessed 26 March 2023] informs of a fragment of what was originally the stone baptismal font of the St-Georgs-Kapelle, the only surviving remnant of the disappeared chapel that occupied what is today a sports ground; the 12th-century(?) chapel disappeared in the 15th century; the fragment was discovered and unearthed in 1948, then installed in the entrance hall [Vorraum] of the St.-Lorenz-Kirche in Eilsleben. The present font in St.-Lorenz [cf. ImagesArea] is located in the southeast corner of its nave; we have no information on it].
