The entry in the Evangelische Stadtgemeinde Stendal [https://www.stadtgemeinde-stendal.de/gemeinden/st.-petri/taufstein-turm-und-glocken/] [accessed 24 March 2023] notes that this 12th-century (?) font was originally from a church in Harz, and was only installed here in the 1979-1980 renovation: "Der TAUFSTEIN aus dem späten 12. Jahrhundert stammt aus einer Kirche im Harz. Er befindet sich erst seit der Renovierung 1979/80 an diesem Ort." The font consists of a polugonal [decagonal / dodecagonal?] basin with decorated sides and a round underbowl; prominent centre ring moulding an splaying lower base, both of the same polygonal shape as the basin. No cover present.
