Baptismal font of the 12th century noted in the Bulletin municipal d'informations no 17, juin 1995, Père G. Desolle [cited in the Wikipedia entry for this church [https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sassetot-le-Mauconduit#cite_ref-44] [accessed 24 March 2023]. The baptismal font, said to be 12th-century and originally from the medieval church demolished in 1852, consists of a square table-top basin with a decorated underbowl to accommodate a base formed by a broad central shaft and four constructional angle colonnettes; the underbowl is decorated with prominent foliage pattern, the leaves ending in large ball motifs; the bottom of the columnar base has multiple round mouldings all around; the lower base is quadrangular and plain. The basin and base appear to be of very different stones; also, the base is very worn, whereas the basin does not have the same look; could it be a composite construct? The wooden cover is flat and and plain, and appears relatively modern.
