The entry for Mijangos in the Enciclopedia del románico [https://www.romanicodigital.com/sites/default/files/pdfs/files/burgos_MIJANGOS.pdf] [accessed 23 March 2023] mentions a church here the foundation of which is documented in a foundational stone dating it to the time of the Visigothic king Recaredo [aka Reccared I / Recared / Flavius Reccaredus / Flavio Recaredo] [r. 586–601]: "antigua basílica de Santa María, cuya
lápida de consagración por el obispo Asterio de Oca, en tiempos del visigodo Recaredo, se conserva en el Ayuntamiento de Medina de Pomar. Su vida útil, que ha sido fechada por J. Á. Lecanda entre mediados del siglo V y finales del IX, sin embargo nada tiene que ver con el núcleo actual ni con la iglesia parroquial de San Tirso, salvo que de los muros de esta parroquia se extrajo la citada lápida." [NB: we have no information of the font(s) of the pre-Romanesque church of Santa Maria].
