Listed and illustrated in the DIO (Deutsche Inschriften Online) [https://www.inschriften.net/landkreis-goettingen/inschrift/nr/di066-0192.html/] [accessed 6 February 2023] as a baptismal font of sandstone, a roughly cylindrical basin raised on four very weathered animals; the basin sides are decorated with eight arcades, the decoration also very eroded here: Madonna and Child, Crucifixion, coat of arms and inscription, shield with defaced content, a shield that had originally a six-line inscription of which little is discernible now, coat of arms, shield with inscription and another such: "Taufstein. Sandstein. Jahrhunderts (2005) notes that the old font at Oberscheden, dated 1577, was was replaced ca. 1742, when the present church was built, by a baroque wooden font. Later, in 1967, the old font was restored, and the wooden font was sold and is now in Schloss Ricklingen, Garbsen.
