Of the two baptismal fonts in a catalogue of the Musée Unterlinden of Colmar, one, listed as No. 144, is identified as being originally from the church of Saint-Martin, in Colmar; it is described as being dated to 1560, its decoration badly damaged. The font consists of an octagonal basin decorated with a large motif or symbol on each side, all very eroded, but some of them still discernible as shields charged with coats of arms; below the waist of the hourglass-shaped font it has preserved a row of leaves (acanthus or grapevine?); the rest of the base is badly eroded. Given the pattern of the erosion and the colour of the material it is probably a local sandstone. No cover present. The present font in this church is modern [cf. ImagesArea]
