The second font in the Pfarrkirche St. Johannis, Wirsberg [see references for Wirsberg No. 1 font]; it appears that this sandstone basin may have been the one that stood on top of the stone basin of Wirsberg No. 1 (which is later and made of wood); it is octagonal with protruding mouldings at top and bottom; some of the panels betwen those mouldings are carved with cusped trefoiled arch-heads with floral inserts, but others are either damaged or the carving has been chiselled off; some(?) of the frames of the panels are inscribed [transcription not available]; the plain pedestal base is a replacement. No cover present.
