[NB: there are two fonts in this church, and the sources are not totally clear on the relationship between the two]. The entry for this church in Margrafenkirchen [https://www.markgrafenkirchen.de/markgrafenkirchen/pfarrkirche-st-johannis-wirsberg/#/] [accessed 23 December 2022] describes a baptismal font that represents different periods of the church, consisting of a sandstone base of the 12th century and a basin showing the painted busts of the donors, their emblem/coat of arms and the date 1647, as well as the date 1966 (date of the renovation/restoration of the church), also painted on next to the old date; the Baroque cover has the Baptism of Christ in the style of the period: "Am Taufstein sind die verschiedenen Bauzeiten der Kirche zu erkennen. Der Sandsteinfuß aus dem 12. Jhd. Stammt vom ersten Kirchenbau. Das Becken mit den Bildern des Stifterehepaars von 1647 erinnert an den Wiederaufbau nach der Zerstörung des Gotteshauses im Dreißigjährigen Krieg am 1. Februar 1633. Die Gebetsglocke läutet noch heute um 14 Uhr zum Gedenken. Der Taufsteindeckel zeigt die Taufe Jesu mit barocken Figuren."
The main(?) font is a composite of a wooden octagonal basin bearing the date of 1647 and the names of George and Elisabeth Schneider; on the side panels are the portraits of pastor Christophero Wolfrumb and his wife Margarete and their emblem or coat of arms; the rest of the basin is decorated with painted flowers on the remaining panels, and with gilded diamond motifs in between; it stands on a pedestal base of sandstone in the late-Gothic style [ca. 1500]. The font cover is, as noted above, modern, of 1966. [cf. BSI entry for Wirsberg No. 2 for the second font in this church]
