Church Notes: present church 5th on this site; court/royal chapel here dedicated to St Martin documented ca. 700; a later re-building was destroyed in a Viking raid ca. 880; re-built church became parochial ca. 940; documented as parochial 1308; demolished 14thC; re-buil early 14thC retaining Romanesque tower; expanded 1510 with the cult of the cult of the relic of St Anne's head; dedication changed to St Anne by 1523; damaged through centuries was restored ca. 1880; destroyed in 16 November 1944 raid; re-built 1950s using some of the earlier materials; tower completed 1964
Font Notes:
A photograph of a much damaged object standing outside in the open [cf. ImageArea] may be what remains of an earlier baptismal fron from Annakirche; it consists of a round, roughly hemispherical basin with heavily moulded sides, much damaged at the upper rim; it is raised on a short broad base of constructional columnsor piping. No cover present.
