Church Notes: neo-Gothic church built 1759 after the demolition of the old one, Sinte-Gitter; some remains of the old church may have been used in the new building -- listed Rijsksmonument [43399]
Listed and illustrated in BALaT KIK-IRPA [http://balat.kikirpa.be/object/2521] [accessed 14 November 2022] as a baptismal font made between 1400 and 1499. The font consists of an octagonal basin decorated with four human heads at 90-degree angles, the spaces between with a torus-scotia-torus sequence; the rounded underbowl is plain; the moulded pedestal atarts octagonal at the top, is round in the centre section and square towards the bottom. All of it is made of the bluish limestone charateristic of the area. [cf. BSI entry for Sinte-Gitter for the fragments of font in the old church that was demolished but is now an archaeological site]
