Erich Langguth's article Urphars Taufstein und die Adelmann'sche Steinhauerdynastie - Wurzeln der Familie führen auf 17. Jahrhundert zurück Sandstein verbindet Natur und Kunst in the 22 July 2015 edition of the Fränkische Nachrichten [https://www.fnweb.de/orte/wertheim_artikel,-wertheim-sandstein-verbindet-natur-und-kunst-_arid,685712.html] [accessed 10 November 2022] informs of a sandstone font made in 1698 by Simon Adelmann for the Urpharer Jakobskirche. The font consists of an octagonal basin with rounded sides on a round pedestal base; an inscription below the upper rim records the date 1698 and the German text of Matthew 19:14; below the sides are covered in a ribbed pattern except where a large cartouche contains another inscription with the name of Simon Adelmann, the maker of the font; the cartouche is surrounded by decorations on the sides and a cherub head at the bottom; the basin lower end has an octagonal moulding; the cylindrical base has roll mouldings at each end, and a shallow carving of a plant or foliage on the side. The octagonal wooden cover is box-shaped with a carved top and a ball finial/handle.
