A 1880 drawing by Carl Theodore Reiffenstein in the Städel Museum [https://sammlung.staedelmuseum.de/de/werk/taufstein-im-pfarrgarten-in-schlitz] [accessed 3 November 2022] shows the ornate basin of a baptismal font; it is captioned: " Taufstein im Pfarrgarten in Schlitz, 20. August 1880". The same font that was reported and illustrated in the rectory garden consists of an octagonal basin inscribed with the date 1467 carved boldly on the upper rim, the rest of the basin covered in a reticular pattern containing some floral and foliage motifs; the lower base is covered in a busy pattern with some ball or bead motifs in it, the corners with what appear to be heads. No cover present. A removable metal rack is in place to support the baptismal dish.
