Noted and illustrated in the 11 June 2014 edition of the Westfallen-Blatt [https://www.westfalen-blatt.de/owl/kreis-hoexter/warburg/taufstein-von-1598-mit-schwarzem-lack-bespruht-1879985] [accessed 3 November 2022], article Taufstein von 1598 mit schwarzem Lack besprüht: the hexagonal Renaissance font was smeared with black paint, a damage that a church council official estimated at several thousand euros to repair. The font consists of a hexagonal basin with profuse deeply-carved motifs of common use in Renaissance ornamentation: putti, architectural motifs, heads and masks, garlands, etc.; animal [both real and fantastic] heads and masks on the undebowl; round base with angel heads other scroll decoration. [NB: the font was damaged by black paint smeared on it in 2014 [cf. supra for source]. No cover present.
