Church Notes: original church ca. 1200(?); re-built 17th-18thC changing the orientation to N-S [NB: José Ángel Aparicio Bastardo [www.academia.edu/41665824/LAS_IGLESIAS_ROMÁNICAS_DE_VALMALA_Y_SAN_CLEMENTE_DEL_VALLE_BURGOS_] [accessed 29 January 2021 points out that the medieval apse was added to the south side of the re-built church's south side, whereas the entry in the Enciclopedia del románico [www.romanicodigital.com] [accessed 27 October 2022] indicates that the 18thC re-building changed the orientation of the church to N-S]
There is no mention of a font in the corresponding entry in the Enciclopedia del románico [www.romanicodigital.com] [accessed 27 October 2022]. [NB: we have no information on the font of the medieval church here, unless the present font is a totally re-carved and re-shaped version of the ancient one; if they could do what they did with the church itself,...]. The present font is an odd-looking vessel [cf. supra]: a basin of roughly hemispherical shape raised on a squat round base; it gives the impression of having been drastically re-tooled with a modern machine, whatever its original shape was; it has a central drain. No cover present.
