Described and illustrated in KIRCHE und ORGEL in KIRCHBARKAU [http://www.bko-barkau.de/index_orgel.html] [accessed 23 October 2022] as a baptismal font made of limestone in the early-13th century on Gotland: "In der St. Katharinen-Kirche steht ein altes Taufbecken aus Kalkstein. Es stammt ursprünglich von der Insel Gotland und ist dort zu Beginn des 13. Jahrhundert geschaffen worden." The medieval font is of a classic Gotland Paradise font design, a roughly hemispherical basin decorated with ornate trefoiled arch-heads on stylised columns; the spandrels of the arcade have varied motifs r symbols; there is scotia right below the upper rim; raised on the usual base, splaying conical with a moulding atop. No cover present. This same source illustrates a modern font made of white marble, also in this church; octagonal basin with trefoiled arch-heads in the uderbowl; on an octagonal-to-square pedestal base.
