Font Notes:
The medieval baptismal font here made of "Londorfer Basaltlava" stone ca. 1170-1180 is reported in a Der neue Landbote article of 25th of December 2015 article 'Taufstein als Pflanzkübel: Eine Weihnachtsgeschichte" by Klaus Nissen and Michael Breuer [https://landbote.info/taufsteine-als-pflanzkuebel/] [accessed 7 October 2022]; the authors report the need to restore the font, used as planter outside the church, and return to its proper liturgical function inside the new church [the old church had been demolished in the 1950s]. A follow-up article by Bruno Rieb and Michael Breuer, 'Taufstein kehrt zurück: Aktion für Starke Männer', in the 13 April 2017 edition of Der neue Landbote [https://landbote.info/taufstein-2/] [accessed 7 October 2022] informs and illustrates the restoration and return of the medieval baptismal font to the Vollnkirchen parish church after spending many years as a planter outside the present church; the old font will have a supporting frame inside for the susual baptismal dish used for modern aspersion baptism. A communication to BSI from Pol Herman (e-mail of 6 March 2024) includes the PDF copy of the Hüttenberg Journal [cf. supra] and notes: "This font is almost identical to the font at Vollnkirchen. Both villages are part of the bigger municipality of Hüttenberg."
