Listed and illustrated in Solhaug (2001) as a fragment of the basin underbowl and a round pedestal base surviving from a medieval baptismal font made of limestone and imported from Gotland; dated 1200-1225. No cover present. Mentioned in Gravgaver [https://www.gravgaver.no/gotland-dopefonter.htm] [accessed 2 October 2022] as the lower basin fragment of one of twelve medieval fonts imported from Gotland into Norway: "Borre (av kummen er kun fragmenter bevart), Eidanger (kun fot), Fon (nederste del av kummen), Hidra (skaft og fot), Holmedal (skaft og fot), Hvaler, Nøtterøy (kun underdel), Ramnes (skaft og fot, fire hoder skyter ut fra vulsten), Sannidal, Sæbø, Tanum, Våle." The entry for this church in Den Norske Kirke [https://web.archive.org/web/20140108202951/http://www.re.kirken.no/index.phtml?pid=970] [accessed 3 October 2022] mentions two fonts in this church: the present font that was donated in 1714, as attested by the inscription on it, and a fragment of a medieval font probably from Gotland: "Den døpefonten som er i bruk i dag, bærer innskriften: Givet til fodens kirke anno 1714/ gud til ære wed jørgen olufssøn mandal oc hans hustrue bente mus. På dåpsfatet av messing står det: Til Guds Ære Givet til Fodens Kirke aff Jørgen Mandal oc Bente Mus Anno 1714. Denne døpefonten er ikke den første i Fon kirke. Sannsynligvis stammer søylen til fonten fra Gotland og kan så med en viss sikkerhet dateres tilbake til 1200-tallet, men vi har ikke så sikre data om dette som vi har i Våle kirke og i Ramnes kirke." The entry for this church in Norske Kirker [https://www.norske-kirker.net/home/vestfold/fon-kirke/] [accessed 3 October 2022] notes that the three-part pedestal is made of Gotland limestone and dates from the 13th century, wheras the basin, also of limestone, and the baptismal dish both date from 1714; the source further mentions a wooden font had been used from the time the old stone basin broke and 1714: "Den tredelte søylen er av gotlandsk kalkstein og dateres til 1200-tallet. Overdelen (også av kalkstein) er fra 1714. Dåpsfatet i messing er også fra 1714. En periode før 1714 brukte man en trrefont etter at øvre del av den gamle fonten var blitt ødelagt." The medieval font is noted in the Store norse leksikon [https://snl.no/Fon_kirke] [accessed 3 October 2022].
