Noted and illustrated in Le magasin pittoresque, Volume 43 (Paris, 1875): 404, drawing by Edouard Garnier, as the basin of a baptismal font originally from Vendsyssel, Jutland, in the museum of Copenhagen at the time; the illustration shows a cauldron-shaped basin decorated with a human figure in the centre and a pair of lions accosting him from the sides. [NB: the location is uncertain; the source states simply that the object was found in Vendsyssel, Jutland]. The style of the decorationa and the shape appear to match the fonts grouped in Mackeprang (1941/2003) under the "Mariagertypen" [actual provenance unknown; "Vendsyssel" may refere to the island, not a specific location on it. The museum entry for this object [https://samlinger.natmus.dk/mom/object/40899] [accessed 15 September 2022] informs that it is made of granite and that it was probably taken from Vensyssel about 1863, as suggested by the museum code [NM II 1863]. The NM confirms that the object is in their collections.
