The parish web site for Röhrsdorf [https://www.kirchgemeinde-roehrsdorf.de/unsere-kirchen/kirche-naustadt/altarraum/taufstein/] [accessed 1 September 2022] informs: the baptismal font is attributed to Hans Köhler the Elder, from Meißen, who also made the 1596 pulpit here; the donor of the font would have been Dietrich von Miltitz, whose arms decorate two sides of the basin, and whose tomb stands nearby in the church interior; the font was located in the centre of the chancel as seen in an early photograph [cf. ImagesArea], but was moved to the south side ca. 1970: "Der aus dem Jahre 1596 stammende Taufstein der Naustädter Kirche wird dem Bildhauer Hans Köhler dem Älteren aus Meißen zugeordnet. Vermutet wird, dass der Taufstein und die Kanzel im gleichen Jahr entstanden. Darauf lassen die Wappenanordnungen der Stifter schließen. Stifter ist Dietrich von Miltitz, dessen Denkmal und Grabplatte auch in der Kirche zu besichtigen sind. Überliefert ist, dass der Taufstein regelmäßig zu Weihnachten oder bei Aufführungen von Theaterstücken beiseite gestellt wurde. Dieser Umgang mit dem Taufstein hat Spuren und Schäden hinterlassen. Um 1970 ist er aus der Mitte auf die rechte Seite des Altarplatzes versetzt worden. Die ursprüngliche farbliche Fassung wurde in vergangenen Zeiten farblich überfasst und das Mittelstück (Fußverlängerung) ergänzt. Der Taufstein ist in stark renovierungsbedürftigem Zustand; u.a. hat aufsteigende Nässe Salz ausblühen lassen. Eine Renovierungskonzeption ist in Arbeit."
