The ntry for this font in the Deutsche Inschriften Online [https://www.inschriften.net/landkreis-northeim/inschrift/nr/di096-0136.html] [accessed 1 September 2922] notes that, as testified by Bergner in 1909, there is an inscription on it that bears witness to an octagonal font hewn out of single block of stone nad placed in the church in 1563, but its later whereabouts are unknown: "Taufstein. Er trug ein oktogonales Becken, war „auß einem ganzen Stein zierlich gehauen, und Anno 1563 hirher gesetzet worden, wie diese Jahrzahl daran zu sehen.“ Noch 1909 wurde er von Bergner bezeugt; die späteren Verlustumstände sind unbekannt." The present font in this church, as illustrated by Johannes Richter [https://orgel-verzeichnis.de/weida-land-barnstaedt-goehritz-st-kilian/] [accessed 1 September 2022], consists of an octagonal basin with rounded underbowl, raised on a trio of putti or angles standing on a triangular lower base.
