Baptismal font of the late-16th century noted in the Landeskirchliches Archiv Hannover [https://kirchengemeindelexikon.de/einzelgemeinde/ellershausen-vorm-wald/] [accessed 29 August 2022]: "Pokalförmige Sandsteintaufe mit halbkugelförmigem gebauchter Kuppa (Ende 16. Jh., Fuß modern ergänzt)." Listed in the DEUTSCHE INSCHRIFTEN ONLINE [DI 66: Lkr. Göttingen (2006) Nr. 249] [https://www.inschriften.net/landkreis-goettingen/inschrift/nr/di066-0249.html?tx_hisodat_sources%5Baction%5D=show&tx_hisodat_sources%5Bcontroller%5D=Sources&cHash=37ea833581ea63772c6238d0ad971120] [accessed 29 August 2022] as a baptismal font consisting of a late-16th century decorated with four angels heads and an inscription all around: "Taufstein. Sandstein. Das runde Becken steht auf einem neuen Fuß. Die Beckenwandung ist durch breitere und schmalere sich nach unten verjüngende Rippen gegliedert, die breiteren Rippen oben mit einem Bogen abgeschlossen, wodurch sich der Gesamteindruck einer halbgeöffneten Blüte ergibt. Oben vier plastische Engelsköpfe, die eine Leiste mit der umlaufenden eingehauenen Inschrift unterbrechen." This same source gives the transliteration of the inscription: "[....] : IHERVS // RVNNE · TEVES // DE · HABEN · DE : // DOPE GEGEVEN" -- it further notes that the language is Low German and the date probably in the late-16th century.
