Ces fonts du 12° siècle proviennent de l'abbaye Saint-Michel et c'est le seul mobilier qui reste de cette ancienne abbaye, détruite pour construire l'Hôtel de Ville actuel, en 1896."
A communication to BSI from Pol Herman (e-mail of 13 June 2022) notes: "The foundation of the museum was the handing over to the city of a private collection by Jules François Lombart (1830-1915) - the owner of the first and then the largest chocolate factory in France. In addition to paintings and sculptures from the 18th-20th centuries, the collection includes the 11th-century Romanesque baptismal font and Egyptian antiquities from before 3.5 thousand years. Fonts baptismaux de l'abbaye Saint-Michel de Doullens (XIIe siècle), conservés au Musée Lombart de Doullens." The object now in the museum [cf. supra] is much battered and damaged, missing coniderable parts of the stone; only a little of
