En 1166, l'église est prieuré de l'abbaye de la Chaise-Dieu depuis une date indéterminée. Création d'un chapitre en 1245 sous le vocable de Notre-Dame."

Noted and illustrated in https://photos-eglises.fr/Auvergne/63/Orcival/orcival.htm [accessed 23 July 2022] as a baptismal font of the 16th century. Looking more like a stoup or even a lavabo, it consists of a basin with a straight nack side and a curved front, rather shallow, on a polyigonal pedestal base. No cover present. [NB: we have no information on the font from the medieval church here]
