Gernsbach No. 3

Noted and illustrated in the Deutsche Inschriften Online, DI 78, Stadt Baden-Baden und Landkreis Rastatt, Nr. 146† (Ilas Bartusch), in: www.inschriften.net, https://nbn-resolving.de/urn:nbn:de:0238-di078h017k0014603 [accessed 16 July 2022] as a holy-water stoup the presence of which in the south side of this church in the late-19th century was testified by Fridegar Mone; the circumstances of itss loss are unknown/not recorded; the overall shape was square with chamfered sides; the object is said to have been decorated with animal reliefs on the base, some of which had already been chipped off by Mone's time; the basin side had an inscription containing five initials; the dating of this object is partly based on the date of the other stoup in this church [cf. BSI entry for Gernsbach No. 2], as the two are thought to have been acquired by this church at about the same time.
