Church Notes: wooden church of ca. 1560 replaced in the late 16thC by the present building on the same site, consecrated 1593; with many later modifications including a stone church tower in the 18thC; renovated 1980s
The Die Kirche Schellerhau site [https://kirche-altenberg.de/kirche-schellerhau/] [accessed 9 July 2022] reports a baptismal font made of sandstone in 1560, originally from the earlier wooden church here; it consists of a cylindrical basin raised on a splaying round-to-square pedestal base and a circular lower base or plinth; the font is decorated with garlands and foods on the base, and four putti and four inscriptions in their corresponding cartouches on the basin sides. The metal baptismal dish made of copper is dedcorated with the symbol of the Holy Ghost. No cover present.
