The entry for this village in Emiliano Nebreda Perdiguero [www.archiburgos.es/wp-content/uploads/amo-a-mi-pueblo.pdf] [accessed July 2022] notes: "Están datados tres antiguos monasterios o eremitorios. El primero dedicado a San Pedro en la parte alta del pueblo, cuya iglesia rupestre se conserva, con baptisterio, altar y tumbas antropomorfas, del siglo IX. Allí vivió San Fermín." Most of the sources are ambiguous about their description of the place noted above as "baptisterio", usually referring to it as having been either sacristy of baptistery.
