A communication from Pol Herman to BSI (e-mail of 24 May 2022) informs of a confusing situation with regards a baptismal font in the church here. A church in Rilland (dedication unknown) is documented 1275-1280, but the church and the whole village were submerged in 1530. The current village of Rilland, founded at the end of the 18th century in the middle of the Reigersbergsche polder (dyked in 1773), is named after the old village that drowned in 1530. The new village of Rilland, founded in the 18th century, was like the old one an agricultural community. It was badly affected by the flood disaster in 1953. In the N.H. church (1928) in Rilland is a baptismal font that was taken from the church of Lillo to the church of Bath by the Reformed insurgents. The church is closed since 2000, and will be transformed for housing (9 flats). Only the church tower will remain." [NB: we have no information of the medieval font of either church]
