Millin's Monumens antiques, inédits ou nouvellement expliqués: [...] (Paris, 1802), p. 260 [https://doi.org/10.11588/diglit.23978#0316] [accessed 18 May 2022] as an altar dedicated to Jupiter, later re-cycled as baptismal font. Noted in M. Cousin's Trois voies romaines du Boulonnais, in Mémoires de la Société dunkerquoise pour l'encouragement des sciences, des lettres et des arts, Années 1858-1859, p. 421. This object is mentioned, and its measurements given, in V.J. Vaillant's Épigraphie de la Morine: ou inscriptions Gallo-romaines sur pierre, métal [...] (Boulogne-sur-Mer, 1890) p. 37.
A communication from Pol Herman to BSI (e-mail of 11 May 2022) includes a number of sources [cf. supra] and images for the votive altar and its inscription, as well as a note that places the altar in the church in 1859, later moved to a museum [Boulogne]. A further communication from Pol Herman (e-mail of 30 May 2022) includes an e-mail to him from Fourcroy Florence, Département documentation/phototheque, Musée de Boulogne-sur-Mer: "Monsieur, Nous faisons suite à votre mail nous demandant une photographie des fonts baptismaux de l'église de Halinghen un autel gallo-romain consacré à une divinité païenne, qui a servi ensuite de fonts baptismaux et dont vous trouverez ci-joint le cliché. Cet autel appartenant au musée de Boulogne-sur-Mer a comme désignation "Inscription à Jupiter" inv. 1226.R5 provenance Halinghen (1858), retaillée en cuve baptismale, cette inscription gallo-romaine est dédiée au Dieu Jupiter et sans doute à une divinité locale dont le nom a disparu. Si vous souhaitez publier cette photo, nous vous serions reconnaissants de nous en informer afin de vous aviser des droits et conditions de reproduction. Vous en souhaitant bonne réception, Cordialement, Fourcroy Florence [...]" [NB: BSI will not provide access to the museum image]
