Font Notes:
Noted in Kees de Wildt's Doopvont de Beeldenstorm (2018: 114-120) as one of a number of baptismal fonts of the Westerkwartier (then part of Flanders, later in France) having been desecrated, damaged or destroyed during the Iconoclastic Fury of 1566. A communication by L. Déjardin in La guerre en Artois: Paroles épiscopales. Documents. Récits (Paris, 1916), p. 371, describes the damage to the church since November 1914: "l'Léglise de Laventie n'est plus qu'un cadavre d'église" but points out the baptismal font escaped destruction: "on a put conserver les fonts baptismaux" [NB: we have no information on which period/date the font that managed to survive in 1914 was]. The present font in this church is modern [cf. ImagesArea].
