A communication from Pol Herman to BSI (e-mail of 30 April 2022) informs: "The baptismal font of Bucy-le-Long is mentioned on page 562 of «Histoire de l'invasion de 1814 dans les départements du Nord-Est de la France», by Edouard Fleury, correspondant du ministère de l’instruction publique, 1858"; this source includes a narrative by the local priest which describes the damage done to the church and its contents, including the baptismal font, in the 1814 'Campagne de France', part of the 'Guerre de la Sixième Coalition'. Presumably that is the same font now in the church: it consists of plain round tub-shaped basin raised on an equally plain round pedestal base and a circular lower base that appears modern. Although the font is totally plain it is quite likely to be of the late-medieval period modifications to this church, not of the original 12th-century church. No cover present.
