Font Notes:
Described and illustrated in Blomqvist (1929), in his chapter on 'Huvudmastarnas efterfoljare', as lead and part of a group of fonts labelled 'Lommarydsgruppen' of the 13th century. In Lindgren (1989) as the work of Master Arcadius. Inventoried and illustrated in Borg (2002) as a batismal font made of sandstone in the 13th century. Described and illustrated in the SHM Medeltidens bildvärld [ref.: 910702F1] as a baptismal font made of sandstone in the late-12th century by Arcadius. The font consists of a roughly cylindrical basin decorated with arcade of twelve round arches on columns with simple moulded capitals and bases; the arcade is framed between rope mouldings top and bottom; the spandrels and the space between the top of the arch-heads and the upper rope moulding is filled with a dense wave pattern; there are four figures protruding at 90-egree angles on the sides of the basin, two seatwed and two standing [cf. ImagesArea for details. the underbowl has three human figures on it [cf. ImagesArea for details]; the pedestal base is round to square, with a roll moulding all around; on the moulding are three human figures, at least one of which [cf. ImagesArea] appears to seating on the moulding. No cover present.
