The Nieuwe Leidsche Courant, edition of 15 August 1952, p. 4, reports on a medieval baptismal font from under the pulpit: a medieval baptismal font present in the reformed church in the hamlet of Heer Oudelands Ambacht (ecclesiastical community Groote Lindt, civil community Zwijndrecht) had served as a pedestal for the pulpit for many years. The baptismal font has now [i.e., ca. 1952] been removed from under the pulpit and has been restored. It will now return to its original destination. It will be put back into use for the first time on Sunday evening. Baptismal fonts from the Middle Ages, such as now the church of Heer Oudemans Ambacht has restored one, are present in a very small number in the Netherlands. The entry for this church in the Canon van Nederland [https://www.canonvannederland.nl/nl/page/168660/heer-oudelands-ambacht] [accessed 8 March 2022] reports a baptismal font of the 15th century in it [="In de vijftiende eeuw moet de kerk ingrijpend zijn veranderd. In de kerk bevinden zich nog een doopvont uit die tijd"]. Pietermankerk, Stichting behoud Pietermankerk, Heer Oudelands Ambacht te Zwijndrecht [http://pietermankerk.nl/kerk.html] [accessed 8 March 2022] reports a baptismal font of the 15th century in it [="een doopvont uit de 15e eeuw,"] The basin is square-to-octagonal; the base an octagonal pedestal [NB: in a communication from Pol Hermans to BSI (e-mail of 6 March 2022) states: "I have never seen such a baptismal font, but now I have an idea : this is a gothic Mosan font standing upside down. What is today the basin, originally was the base (square base with 4 triangular diamonds to achieve the transition to the octagonal column). Several examples of such fonts installed up-side down to support the pulpit are known.] The metal cover appears modern, a low dome with a small cross finial.
