Church Notes: ca. 1200 church; re-built 16thC -- the village had three other churches built between the 15th and 18thC (San Juan [now in ruins], San Martín [redundant, now Centro de Interpretación Tierra de Campos[, and Santa María [fully active as church]
The entry for this church in the Enciclopedia del románico [www.romanicodigital.com] does not mention a font in it. The font in use in this church-cum-museum is large and bucket-shaped; it stands on a broad round plinth; it has a basin insert with its own cover inside the larger vessel, likely used for the actual baptisms. The wooden cover has a cross finial and is modern.
